Small Batch Cabernet Franc
Discover the elegance of Skillogalee’s Small Batch Cabernet Franc handcrafted from a tiny parcel of hand-managed, dry-grown vines on the hillside slopes of our single-estate property in the heart of the Clare Valley. These old, low-yielding grape vines, from our original plantings located in the gully in front of our cellar door, produce fruit with refined sensory characteristics that showcase the elegant nature of Cabernet Franc.
Hand-harvested grapes are specifically chosen to produce a stylish wine with beautiful fruit character and varietal expression. The fruit is fermented in small open fermenters, before being gently basket-pressed to extract the complex and structured wine. The wine is then matured for 8-months in French oak to retain the vibrant fruit flavours and acidity. Before being bottled, the barrels are individually tasted by our small winemaking team and to blend a balanced and structured wine which highlights the unique and distinctive characteristics of the variety.
